My kids get a huge kick out of using “bathroom words”. You know. As in words related to bodily functions. They will sit and whisper to each other such things as “poop” and “fart” then laugh until they are crying. Pretty typical stuff for their ages.

Dec 04, 2019 Not Parent Approved is a card game inspired by Cards Against Humanity—but, rather than truly offensive, it's hilariously gross—for kids! Kids one up each other—and their parents—to see who can come up with the most inappropriate fill-in-the-blank answers. With Not Parent Approved, your kids get to: Play their mischievous selves without getting into real trouble (none of the adult content that Cards Against Humanity has) Spend face-to-face interaction time with family and friends rather than with their gadgets Expand their imagination and creativity through wacky humor. Not Parent Approved is a deliriously funny game that is well-suited to family and party play. Non-stop humor and social interaction flow freely from the moment the first cards are dealt. Each round, one player asks a fill-in-the-blank question (The teacher bent over and we saw.) from a question card and each of the other players responds. Not Parent Approved After the reader chooses the funniest answer, players continue taking turns judging which is funniest. The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
With everything going on in the world it is nice to let the kids loose and have some real fun. Not Parent Approved, a PG-rated multi-award winning word game, has allowed us to do just that and use some language they would normally get in trouble for. Not Parent Approved is filled with age-appropriate, family friendly toilet humour, which really got my kids engaged and giggling immediately.
We played a few rounds together as a family, and althought the game is intended for ages 8 and up, my 6 year old had no problems playing along or reading her cards. Gameplay is simple – it’s essentially a game of mad libs where one player reads a question card and everyone else answers with the funniest answer card they have.
Being silly and inapproriate is what really got my kids get hooked on this game, but as a parent, I love watching them have just the best time away from screens. I also love watching them improve their literacy and language skills without even realising they are doing it. I love watching them reason as they decide which card fits the question best. Most of all though, I love hanging out with them and having their full attention as we play.
I could see this game as being a really great way to get reluctant readers to gain confidence and motivation to read.
I did have to go through and remove a few cards that were definitely geared towards tweens. I just didn’t really want to have to explain to my 6 year old about private parts and puberty. That said, there were very few cards that I felt were questionable enough to remove.
Not Parent Approved is a huge hit with my kids, they even play the game together when we can’t play as a family. Not only is Not Parent Approved fun to play, but it’s simple. They just have the best time with it.
